A while back, I made an off-hand suggestion that someone should put together a map of all of the old Isaly's locations in Pittsburgh. Those of us who didn't grow up around Pittsburgh still need help from time to time when we get directions that include the phrase, "Turn left where the Isaly's used to be."
Well, Mark Stroup (mapmaker), with help from Chris Briem (address supplier), has actually done it. The results are here. Thanks!

Isaly's is the past rushing into the future and now with Google, all the lost rustbelters, flatliners and others making a last chance power drive again have hope. When you get there and there is no there there, you know you have arrived rustbelt style. It's nice knowing it was there and now with a new and Googlized rustbelt, you will be able to see what is not there, but was there thanks to Google over your head camera technology. I'm sitting at my desk eating a chipped ham sandwich looking at what was Isaly's. It looks like a body shop now. It could be a meth lab though!
Chipped ham is good food!
You should read Brian Butko's book on Isaly's.
