For those who read both Pittsblog an my own blog, I apologize for being lazy and posting this on both.... but this is too funny. The Onion gives us: PNC Park Threatens To Leave Pittsburgh Unless Better Team Is Built.
If I were anywhere near as right brained as the notorious and prolific writers at the Carbolic Smoke Blog, I would suggest another headline.. Something like: City Cites Pirates Ownership as Blighted, Intends to use eminent domain powers to buy team.

My dear, left-brained Chris Briem -- are you not aware that that Pirates ownership is being investigated for improprieties as we speak?

That's very good, C. Briem, and if it wasn't so obvious to everybody, I would steal it. We are breaking a story next week: PITTSBURGH'S DISASTER PREVENTION PLAN ENTAILS DISBANDING THE PIRATES.
well, I spend a lot of each week pointing out the obvious to those who choose to ignore it.
Ever consider how much harder your avocation would be without all the material provided by the team (team as loosely defined that is).
. . . No, your headline is great, it would just be obvious to everyone that I stole it from you. From now on, please send headlines to me privately so I can take all the credit.
The NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins were the worst team in hockey -- and they still want a new arena.
Just a couple of years ago, the NHL didn't even complete half of its season due to a lockout -- and they still want a new arena.
Talk about blight and not seeing the light.
And if the city uses eminent domain powers to buy the team you can bet that it will ask itself for a TIF to fund the purchase. Maybe the commissioners in Mt Lebanon would like to contribute also!
I'm pretty sure that the last time the Pirates were competative was when the city owned them!
