I can't pretend to have my finger on the pulse of Pittsburgh, but rumors have reached my ears that Mellon Bank is ready to deal. This morning's piece in the New York Times does nothing to put that rumor to rest.
(By the way, I've heard the same thing about PNC. Five years from now, will there be a financial services industry in Pittsburgh?)

I have heard that as well. It makes sense with the CEO departing soon and the trends towards consolidation in the financial services industry. Frankly, I think that PNC is in the same boat.
