P-G Your Biz Poll - Vote?

The Post-Gazette business section has an online poll about the Steelers. I was asked to vote. I did. So you should, too, I guess. But why?

As of 5:15PM, only 38 votes. I won because this was one of the very few games I bet on, and they beat the spread.

According to the current poll, "the region" is coming in last place!

The players - Obviously each among them gets an additional 80 grand, most of them gain leverage in negotiating power (esp. Randel El), potential endorsements (esp. Ben, Ward, and Bettis), national exposure (esp. Bettis), fame, and now several months off from work.

The owners - A 25,000 trophy, the prestige of being one of 3 teams to ever win it, and some more shine on an already magnificent patina. Even the constant side-by-side comparison of the Rooney v. Paul Allen fortunes couldn't combat this.

The region - a couple good weeks of television, drinking, and camaraderie. Despite the national stage, Detroit got much of the exposure, and attention was always accompanied by the image of vats of molten steel. Even Cowher's pre-game interview was staged in a steel-mill-looking set. Seriously, I'm surprised they didn't digitally enhance our skyline with smoke. At least the rest of the country knows we have those "gondala thingies"...

Me, not really, because I'm still ticked at Bradshaw for being a no-show at the MVP ceremonies, but making it on Leno to pimp his new chic-flick.
